We have lost the battle for Wisconsin State Workers rights, but we have NOT lost the war. The recall efforts are still underway to rid the State of Wisconsin of the offending State Senators. If you live in a District that has a recall going on, please, please sign the petition of recall. Also at the top of the website is a pre recall notice for Governor Walker. Lets get rid of these guys and WIN the war. NEW OFFICERS OF THE MADISON WISCONSIN AREA LOCAL With the election of Martin Mater to National Business Agent, the MWAL has a few new officers. Lets have a warm welcome for our newest President, Paul Muenkel. Paul has been the vice president and per our constitution automatically moves up to the office of President. Congratulations Paul. Also according to the constitution, the president fulfills any vacant openings. Paul has appointed Carla Riffle as the new Vice President. Paul also appointed Bret Wersland as our latest Clerk Craft Director. Congratulations to our new officers. They have a high standard to fulfill and we have the utmost confidence in them to continue the hard work of their predecessors. Madison receives Charter for APWU Auxiliary Already active with scholarships available and a golf outing planned The Madison Auxiliary of the Madison Area APWU was presented with its Charter at the membership meeting on March 24, 2010. For the most part, the regulations have become more stringent. Some rules, mostly regarding returning veterans of war, are actually more beneficial. Please go here for more information and the updated forms. I have also added a link to the right hand column. ---------------------------------------------------- JCIM Now Online On the right hand side I have added a link to the JCIM. This may be handy if you don't have the JCIM in your office. Click on the right for it or you can click on the JCIM links in this notice. ------------------------------------------------ M and I Bank account closed The M and I Bank account is now closed. If you find any checks that are not cashed, bring them to the union for replacement. ---------------------------------- Change of Checking Account The union has changed its checking account because of the fees imposed on it by M and I Bank. We are now using Home Savings Bank for our checking account. If you have any checks that are written on the M and I Bank account, cash them immediately. The account will be closed on May 1, 2008. ----------------------------------------------------------- Bidding do's and don'ts A clerk called me yesterday with a complaint about the new shared services bidding system. I have put a link up to lite blue for bidding purposes. 1. BIDDING deadlines have changed. The new deadline for bidding is WEDNESDAY of the closing week, NOT Friday as we are are use to. 2. The bidding notices are complicated and hard to read. Take your time at the bulletin board and make sure you understand the posting and the bid job you want. This is your career. ------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to the new Madison Wisconsin Area Local of the American Postal Workers Union website.
